A campaign was started after lighthouse owner Trinity House announced that it could no longer afford to repaint the distinctive red and white stripes and that it would have to be left to return to its natural granite grey. Trinity House stated that because boats now have high tech navigational systems the day marker stripes are no longer essential. We will be working closely with Trinity House. Trinity House have now had a firm quote from one of their preferred contractor.

2017 Summary of records taken from the Beachy Head log Part 1. We were able to pick out Little Gulls and Little Terns moving past some way out a few years ago, but sadly now the majority of these now slip through unrecorded. A number of birds were also seen sat on the sea or moving W, but are not included in the above totals.
